Better is on a mission to transform the $15 trillion mortgage industry. As a pioneer in digital mortgage innovation, we’re entering a bold new phase: offering our proprietary technology as a SaaS platform to external clients.
We’re hiring a Senior Product Manager (Retail Channel) to lead one of Better’s most strategically important initiatives. You will spearhead the evolution of our internally-built Loan Origination System (LOS) into a world-class, enterprise-grade SaaS platform serving financial institutions and large-scale partners globally.
This is more than a product role—it’s a high-impact leadership position at the intersection of product innovation, operational excellence, and customer success. You’ll collaborate with top-tier engineers, designers, executives, and clients to reshape how the mortgage industry operates through scalable technology.

Responsibilities

    • Field Immersion: Travel regularly to retail mortgage branches to observe, shadow, and engage with loan officers and staff. Gather first-hand, qualitative insights to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement
    • Stakeholder Partnership: Act as the primary product liaison to Sales and Operations leadership for the retail mortgage channel. Understand and advocate for their needs
    • Solution Development: Use a human-centered approach to design technology solutions that improve tools, workflows, and operational efficiency across the retail channel
    • Requirements Gathering: Translate business challenges into well-defined product requirements with clear prioritization and scope
    • Product Execution: Partner with Engineering and Design to drive product lifecycle activities—from sprint planning to launch—ensuring alignment with business objectives
    • Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinate across Sales, Ops, Product, and Training to ensure successful rollouts, change management, and adoption
    • Platform Advocacy: Build deep expertise in Better’s proprietary LOS to champion platform improvements that address field needs
    • Strategic Planning: Support proactive discovery and roadmap planning to help business leaders anticipate future challenges and opportunities
    • Voice of the Field: Represent the retail user perspective in product discussions, ensuring that what we build directly addresses real-world challenges

Qualifications

    • 5+ years in product management, program management, or operational leadership roles—ideally within the retail mortgage sector
    • Deep knowledge of loan origination processes, retail branch operations, and the tools that enable sales and fulfillment teams
    • Experience gathering business requirements and working with technical teams to deliver scalable, user-centered solutions
    • Willingness to travel 25–40% to field locations for user research and implementation support.
    • Strong analytical and synthesis skills; able to translate frontline feedback into actionable insights
    • Familiarity with LOS platforms and broader fintech/mortgage tech ecosystems
    • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and navigate ambiguity in fast-paced environments
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with experience influencing senior stakeholders
    • Familiarity with agile methodologies and iterative development practices
    • Self-starter with high ownership and drive; thrives in a dynamic, evolving environment
    • MBA or advanced degree is a plus
