An Author Recruiting Specialist works with external content creators – whom we call “authors.” This role is responsible for sourcing, recruiting, and qualifying prospective authors across a variety of technical domains, with a focus on delivering high-quality candidates for consideration by the Author Enablement team.

 

They conduct briefing calls, perform initial vetting of author talent, and manage the candidate pipeline across assigned content areas. This role is essential to maintaining a strong, active pipeline that meets curriculum needs, collaborating with others for final selection and ongoing author engagement.

 

The Author Recruiting Specialist collaborates closely with curriculum teams and Author Community Managers to help meet our goal of expanding our expert author network with world-class instructors and practitioners.

What you’ll do:

 

  • Source potential author candidates through platforms like LinkedIn, GitHub, tech forums, conference lineups, and online communities
  • Conduct initial screening and briefing calls to assess candidate interest, content expertise, and availability
  • Provide detailed candidate summaries and recommendations for review
  • Coordinate audition logistics and support candidates throughout the evaluation process
  • Maintain and organize candidate records, ensuring data is clean, current, and complete
  • Assist with initial onboarding tasks, including documentation prep, system access, and process education
  • Maintain accurate tracking of candidate pipeline in recruiting systems
  • Collaborate with the Author Enablement team to iterate on outreach strategies, messaging, and qualification rubrics
  • Help maintain team documentation and recruiting workflows

 

Experience you’ll bring:

 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience managing candidate or lead pipelines with accuracy and follow-through
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to juggle multiple requisitions and timelines
  • Comfort working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
  • Comfortable using or learning CRM systems like Salesforce
  • Knowledge of or interest in the technology industry and/or online education is a plus

 

Requirements:

 

  • 2–3 years of experience in recruiting, sourcing, business development, or talent coordination
