The Investments Compliance Department (“Investments Compliance”) manages the firm’s compliance risks to prevent violations of law, rule, or regulation, and designs and delivers a compliance risk management framework that maintains risk levels within the firm’s risk appetite and protects the franchise. Investments Compliance is a risk-based department, focused on emerging risks, and providing constructive challenge to the business and functions, partnering closely with them to implement strong processes and effective controls, as well as to better foster and embed a culture of compliance. Investments Compliance monitors trends and changes in regulations and develops and implements firmwide and divisional policies and procedures. Within Investments Compliance, the Investments Compliance team provides compliance coverage for MetLife’s Investments Department (which includes MetLife Investment Management (MIM), MetLife’s Affiliated Insurance Companies (AIC), and MetLife’s two U.S broker/dealers).
Key Responsibilities:
- The hours for this position are 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm Eastern time / 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific time, with the expectation that the individual would be on call until 9 pm Eastern time / 6:00 pm Pacific time for one-off trade alert escalations by our India Compliance team
- Review of month-end green package reports from BlackRock’s-Aladdin system for identification and resolution of any alerts/guideline breaches
- Maintaining documentation with results of guideline breaches and seeking input from portfolio management for description of causes and action plan, as appropriate
- Provide guidance to investments business and traders with respect to client guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Review of new and amended portfolio guidelines within investment management agreements; code rules within the BlackRock-Aladdin system; review and testing of new and amended rules
- Review of trading activity within Aladdin for compliance with policies
- Preparation of client certifications and other related reporting
- Manual review of portfolio guidelines not automated within BlackRock (primarily real estate)
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- 2 – 4 years’ experience in the Investment Management industry
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to communicate with all levels of management
- Detail oriented and the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
- Dedicated, self-motivated with an ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of BlackRock-Aladdin (or similar system) a plus
Preferred:
- College graduate
- Experience with public fixed income asset management
- Strong knowledge with Microsoft Excel
