Now we’re seeking a new team member who wants to get started in a career as a Community Manager to join our well established and growing global Developer Relations team.


  • Communicate: Serve as a contact point for the DevRel team and work with the DevRel Developer Programs and Advocates teams to help enable our superfans and the community around GitHub.
  • Recruit: Identify the GitHub power users globally, the most inspirational open source maintainers and the superfans who might have what it takes to be a GitHub Star.
  • Events Planning: Organize and participate in online or in-person events, hackathons, manage Q&As and event logistics. Work closely and manage client/vendor relations. You’ll also work closely with internal procurement, IT and security teams to handle all event operations and logistics.
  • Nurture: Communities in open source and communities of developers across the world that are using GitHub for their collaboration.
  • Learn: Everything about GitHub and what problems developers are trying to solve so you know how best to communicate with them and help to coordinate for their needs within the DevRel and wider product teams. You are not alone in this, you will be joining an established team who are there to coach you, share ideas and work together.
  • Relationship management:Build a wide and diverse network amongst the internal teams so you have a diverse network to maintain and to connect to our GitHub community when they are looking for people to give feedback on ideas and plans, as well as handle any information requests. You’ll also manage the day-to-day logistics and operations for the GitHub Stars program, assist in International Expansion and OSS programs. You will need to develop an understanding of essential components of the business and key partnerships, to provide strategic support to DevRel.


Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in managing developer programs, developer advocacy or developer-focused events
  • 2+ years experience working with developer communities and helping connect them with engineering teams and other resources in your organization to help them be successful.
  • Proven experience planning, coordinating, and communicating events

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional organizational skills with very strong communication and relationship building skill
  • Experience using GitHub for discussions, managing markdown files in source control or updating issues and tracking work in a project plan
  • Experience identifying and qualifying individuals for suitability in your organizations developer programs
  • Fluent technical English speaking / writing but any additional spoken languages are a bonus.

Compensation Range

The base salary range for this job is USD $90,700.00 – USD $240,500.00 /Yr.
