Workiva is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Marketing Operations to optimize our marketing automation infrastructure and scale global campaign execution. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Marketing Technology & Operations, this pivotal role will be responsible for driving operational excellence in campaign execution, marketing automation, and ensuring strong cross-functional collaboration with marketing, sales, and business technology teams.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, coupled with extensive knowledge of campaign and lifecycle operations. A proven track record of leading successful teams within a dynamic and complex environment is essential.
What You’ll Do:
Marketing Automation Product Owner:
- Serve as the Product Owner and subject-matter expert (SME) for Marketo, overseeing configuration, integration, and ongoing platform optimization
- Maximize platform impact by driving efficiency and effectiveness in campaign execution
- Ensure compliance with global privacy and regulatory standards, including GDPR, CCPA, and CASL
Strategy and Execution:
- Develop, operationalize, and optimize a comprehensive email marketing strategy and enhance email performance using data-driven insights, such as A/B testing and quality assurance
- Lead end-to-end lifecycle operations from lead capture through handoff to Sales, including lead processing, nurturing, segmentation, and scoring
- Translate business needs into a scalable global campaign operations framework aligned with GTM strategies and revenue marketing objectives
- Lead campaign architecture and execution, ensuring scalable processes, efficient resourcing, and high-quality campaign deployment
Scalability and Optimization:
- Scale marketing automation to support global business units and regions, ensuring localization across languages and markets
- Develop and enforce campaign build best practices and QA standards to streamline execution, reduce friction, accelerate time-to-market, and improve performance globally
- Use performance data and feedback loops to continuously optimize campaign operations and identify areas for innovation
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Own the relationship with third-party agencies supporting Marketo campaign build and execution, ensuring alignment on process, quality, and timelines
- Partner closely with Marketing, Sales Development, and Business Technology to align operational strategy with pipeline and growth objectives
Roadmap and Innovation:
- Own and evolve the campaign and lifecycle operations roadmap to advance platform capabilities, automation maturity, and campaign scalability to align with business objectives
- Partner with the MarTech team to evaluate and implement new tools and technologies that enhance campaign operations performance and efficiency
Training and Enablement:
- Coach and develop team members to strengthen execution, collaboration, and professional growth
- Maintain documentation, training materials, and enablement resources to support onboarding and ongoing education
What You’ll Need:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in marketing operations, marketing automation, or a closely related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience managing external partners and leading collaborative, high-performing teams
- Deep expertise in Marketo (or equivalent marketing automation platform); Marketo Certified Expert (MCE) certification is a strong plus
- Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture and data structure, with proven experience managing MAP-to-CRM integration to ensure accurate lead flow, attribution, and reporting
- Proven experience developing and leading centralized campaign operations in a global B2B SaaS environment with revenues of $1B or more
- Demonstrated success in creating and operationalizing global email marketing strategies, lifecycle workflows, and lead handoff processes that scale across regions and languages
- Experience working cross-functionally with marketing, sales, operations, and technical teams to develop scalable processes that support business growth
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on, execution-focused mindset to deliver results
- Excellent analytical and project management skills, with the ability to interpret data, generate insights, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a matrixed, global organization
- Strong leadership presence and organizational agility, with the ability to build trust and influence across stakeholders at all levels
Travel Requirements & Working Conditions
- Minimal travel, less than 10%
- Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office
How You’ll Be Rewarded
✅ Salary range in the US: $154,000.00 – $250,000.00
✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
