DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
The Player Development department is dedicated to fostering the comprehensive growth of our minor league players. Our mission is to excel in optimizing talent and skill development while aligning with player and team objectives. Our approach involves the creation of world class player programs and efficiently scaling them across our player pool. Collaborating closely with baseball analytics, performance, and medical, we establish effective frameworks for experimentation and learning. Additionally, we work closely with Amateur Scouting, International Scouting, and Pro Scouting to ensure seamless player transitions into the Red Sox organization.
 
POSITION OVERVIEW:
 
The Complex Coordinator/FCL Manager will serve a leadership and development role in the Boston Red Sox Player Development Department and is primarily responsible for coordinating the field operations at the Boston Red Sox Player Development Complex in Fort Myers, FL. The candidate will also serve as the Florida Complex League manager and instruct/develop in the Defense & Baserunning Department. This includes, but is not limited to, year-round coordination of daily schedules under the direction of the Field Coordinator.
 
This role is critical to the successful functioning of our Player Development Complex, which is one of the key components of our organization. By ensuring smooth operations and fostering a collaborative environment, the Complex Coordinator/FCL Manager will directly contribute to the development of our Minor League talent pipeline and the overall success of our Major League team.
 
This position is based full time in Fort Myers, FL. Candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to Fort Myers, FL. The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish) and will have experience as a Minor League Manager, Minor League Coordinator, or College Head Coach. The candidate must demonstrate a proven ability to lead and motivate a team, foster a collaborative environment, and communicate effectively across departments and with players of diverse backgrounds. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate, create, and communicate daily schedules using Microsoft Excel regarding including but not limited to Extended Spring Training, FCL Season, Bridge League, Offseason Training
  • Coordinate player/staff reporting at the direction of the Field Coordinator, Director of Hitting, and Director of Pitching.
  • Serve as the point of contact and executor for player movement with the Fort Myers Complex (releases, promotions, etc.).
  • Manage the FCL Red Sox during the Florida Complex League season, including games during Extended Spring Training and Bridge League.
  • Instruct in the Defense & Baserunning Department, including adjusting goals, developing player plans, and facilitating training environments.
  • Analyze data to create and adjust player development plans in combination with Assistant, Player Development based in Fort Myers.
  • Execute Player Performance Team meetings and maintain awareness of player goals.

COMPETENCIES

  • Able to think objectively and critically to solve problems.
  • Experience developing programming and closely monitoring progress towards organizationally defined KPI’s.
  • Technical ability to interact deeply with analytics and predictive modeling groups to advise and QC model outputs.
  • Familiar with the development of coaching manuals and player curriculum and able to tailor programming to meet organizational goals.
  • Extensive experience evaluating and prescribing best-in-class drills to address deficiencies in each individual player.
  • Able to develop programming towards organizationally defined KPI’s.
  • Understanding of how to construct training environments that put position players in a position to improve skill and/or talent.
  • Able to cultivate trust and player buy-in.
  • Willing and able to use technology to maximize the effectiveness of programming.
  • Able to develop key takeaways from large amounts of data to identify high leverage areas of development for each player.
