Reporting to the Director of Strategic Portfolio Management, the Program Manager will be responsible for managing and executing a portfolio of projects deemed as strategic for the enterprise. This is a critical role that focuses on the execution of strategy in partnership with Product, Marketing, Sales, Legal, Professional Services, Customer Success, Finance and other cross-functional stakeholders. The Program Manager will work independently or with other project managers to manage and mitigate risks on the assigned portfolio. This role provides hands-on guidance to project team members to deliver on the objectives of the assigned program.
To accomplish all of this, you will need to use your SaaS technology, implementation, project/program management experience, and business acumen to build effective cross-functional partnerships, influence the business, and use organizational skills to navigate ambiguity. You will work in conjunction with technology, business Leaders and cross functional teams to successfully launch projects. This is a highly visible role interfacing with all levels of stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
•Provide program leadership and oversight on strategic initiatives ensuring successful delivery
•Partner with responsible working group members to define objectives of the program and align them across projects in the program
•See the ‘big picture’ and ensure that execution aligns with the defined strategy
•Has a good handle on the program priorities and escalates to responsible working group members in case of discrepancies
•Partner with director of portfolio management, accountable program owners, program managers, project managers to optimize resource capacity and manage interdependencies across projects in the program
•From an enablement standpoint, promote the efficient completion of projects and other activities within the program as planned, while simultaneously enabling the adjustment of the strategy, plans or components when it improves delivery of the program’s intended benefits
•Periodically report on program performance metrics as directed by the director of strategic portfolio management
•Support director of strategic portfolio management and responsible working group members to build the content for discussions at the steering committee level to steer the program in the right direction
•Collect requirements, formulate business cases, and assist with prioritization and feedback collection
•Assist with project scoping beginning from ideation to execution
•Manage risks, communicate project updates including timelines, risks, changes, and dependencies
•Proactively manage escalations by effectively partnering with business leaders within the project(s)/program
•Coach and mentor project team members to drive the required business outcomes while enabling their development
•Influence stakeholders at multiple levels (directors & above) to build consensus
•Effectively diagnose delivery challenges to identify the root cause and propose solutions to leadership
•Lead lunch & learn sessions to share knowledge on delivery best practices
•Play an active role in team meetings to facilitate knowledge sharing, discussion of current challenges and potential roadblocks
Required Technologies:
•Experience with project portfolio and project management tools; examples include MS Project, Planview, Aha, Smartsheet or JIRA
Required Experience:
•Demonstrated track record as Project Manager or Program Manager delivering technology modernization projects on time and budget
•Experience leading and managing robust portfolio of projects that enables strategy for lifecycles such as Product to Cash, Hire to Retire, Procure to Pay etc.
•Demonstrated ability to connect the dots by proactively identifying the dependencies
•Design thinking, PMP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification preferred
•Demonstrated ability to lead complex programs by understanding the strategic objectives
•Excellent communication skills with an ability to work at all levels of the organization
•Ability to read the room and tailor communication based on the audience
•Can articulate strategy, challenges, present solutions to senior leadership and executive teams
•Intellectual curiosity to understand how things connect, and a drive to constantly be looking for how to make it better, ability to roll sleeves up and get work done
