About the Candidate
Much of my experience has been in ambiguous roles. As a small business owner, I had to produce a physical product and get it out the door. Easier typed than done ๐ Facing the normal small business owner challenges with the bonus of a baby strapped to my back I researched and learned my way to success. The priority was to automate anything that could run
in the background so my partner and I would be free to deal with higher-level
issues. I created systems for invoicing and order management so that anyone
could step into the office and take over that task. Because I had a screen-printing
shop there were a lot of moving parts. Keeping with our theme of automating we
created workflows and systems for the physical shop to minimize the โWhat do I do next?โ question. When I first started in my current role, the company had just bought two new companies and was absorbing their product lines. Due to the lack of a marketing
department, there were now three different catalogs with different branding on
each. I saw the need for one comprehensive catalog to show all the product
lines under one umbrella. The catalog was in addition to my regular job, so I
worked nights and weekends to create it. The payoff was huge! At my first
tradeshow, I watched as a customer after customer use the catalog to write
orders. The catalog was also essential in introducing current customers to the
new product lines as well as attracting new customers. For four years I updated
and produced a catalog, in the past year we have gone completely digital, and I
have been working on their website that replaced the catalog. I am using a no-code solution and
thoroughly enjoy learning all I can about user experience. All the work I have
been doing on the catalog and the website have made me a better account
manager. The information gathering and organization have sharpened my empathy and understanding of our customers.
