VP of Risk

The VP of Risk will report directly to the President. The VP of Risk is responsible for defining, building, and operating, in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, the risk function at Moov in support of our payment platform. The VP will ensure our risk strategy and programs evolve alongside product capabilities, and adapt, enhance, or build new frameworks where necessary to protect Moov while delivering value to our customers.

You will:

• Define and build the risk frameworks and programs at Moov across our payment processing capabilities and ensure these align and adapt to best in class risk management practices across the fintech and payment processing industries
• Develop and drive cross-functional alignment around risk programs throughout the customer and transaction lifecycles including real-time risk monitoring, merchant underwriting, limits/reserves, credit policy, and all other potential risk vectors across our platform
• Incorporate existing internal and external risk management tools to support customer usage and growth, and partner with product to inform future development of risk detection and mitigation functionality within the platform
• Develop risk assessment for any new product capabilities and develop recommendations and  risk criteria for offering faster funding and credit products to new and existing customers
• Lead deep dive efforts on risk and fraud events including post mortem and root cause analysis, as well as recommendations for changes to policy or procedure controls
• Partner with Operations, Finance, and Compliance teams on risk reporting to partners including sponsor banks, card networks, and auditors
• Partner with Customer Success on key customer management interactions related to managing exposure from high-risk customers
• Oversee underwriting, including development of an audit process to ensure application, rating, parameters and underwriting activities are in accordance to internal guidelines
• Build and manage a best in class risk and underwriting team
• Other duties as assigned by Moov and/or your manager

You have:

• 10+ years of relevant risk leadership experience in fintech
• BA in Business or Finance, Master’s Degree is preferred
• Experience defining risk policy and creating framework on how to evaluate risk
• Understanding of issuing and acquiring statistical analysis, modeling, scoring schemes, etc.
• Experience analyzing trends in data to assist leadership with decision making and improving processes
• Experience analyzing trends in data to assist leadership with decision making and improving processes
• Experience with merchant cash advance underwriting
• Working under pressure, managing tight deadlines and adapting to change
• Experience with mid-size organizations and startups

  Salary range: $245k to $278k
