As our VP of Product, Last Mile + Marketplace, you will define the overarching product strategy and roadmaps consistent with Veho’s overall strategic objective and growth plans for the crowdsourced marketplace part of our business. You will play a key role in making technology a competitive edge and a source of differentiation for Veho. You will build processes and frameworks that collect, organize, prioritize, and build roadmaps around both unit economic improvements and operational efficiencies, as well as new products and operating models that drive the Veho growth flywheel.

You will direct the tech investments to manage and optimize the crowdsourced driver part of Veho’s business, which manages a 9-figure annual budget to pay driver partners to deliver packages for our clients. You will do strategy, resource allocation, and prioritization for a 50-person team to begin with, including partnering with or managing a cross-functional team of product, design, engineering, data science, analytics, and operations team members. This team manages the driver delivery experience, driver-route marketplace, and driver support. This team also drives strategy and analytics for determining Veho’s coverage area, and works closely with our ground operations and transportation teams on network topology.

As an executive team member, you will help shape and deploy the company strategy and priorities. You will also lead, develop, retain, and grow your team.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Defining the overarching product strategy, and ongoing roadmap(s) for the Last Mile space consistent with Veho’s overall strategic objective and growth plans.
  • Building and coaching a high-performing team that is motivated to do better and think bigger as a result of your leadership.
  • Thinking and operating at a strategic level, but driving execution on a tactical level with the desire to be hands-on.
  • Ruthlessly bringing focus to the most impactful features and products, aligned with the company’s financial, growth, stability, and experience goals.
  • Building and maintaining core systems, while driving multiple teams to innovate on those same systems.
  • Partnering with founders and executives across Engineering, Operations, Revenue, etc to develop a Last Mile roadmap consistent with Veho’s overall strategic objectives and growth plans.
  • Build from scratch a calendar, set of templates, decision-making frameworks, reporting decks, etc. to effectively manage your product org, execute on what is the highest priority and manage up to the executive team.

What you bring: 

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and driving product strategy and execution in a complex, multi-sided marketplace with hundreds of thousands of users (or more) or businesses with a complex physical and digital operation.
  • Experience owning a budget and outcomes for a cross-functional team that includes product, engineering, and operations.
  • Strong technical background and understanding of software development, architecture, and systems engineering.
  • Data-driven mindset and highly analytical with the desire and ability to dig into metrics to derive insights and drive decisions.
  • Can run up and down the stack from high-level strategy all the way to the details of architecture and metrics.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills. You can tell a story with data and influence others at all levels of the company, including the executive team.
  • Deep expertise in the complex unit economics of a marketplace business, ideally with a gig economy component.
