A Stepful instructor inspires and engages students from day 1 to graduation. They are motivating, high-energy, and supportive. They break down difficult concepts, bring real-life examples from their experience, and share compelling stories with students. Unlike traditional teaching roles, a Stepful instructor is only responsible for the delivery of the content. The Learning Team develops curriculum, lesson plans, and assessments.
The Role
Our goal is for every student to receive a consistently high-quality, positive learning experience, regardless of their instructor. We are looking for an Instructional Coach with demonstrated success in teacher and student growth to support our new instructors.
As a Stepful Instructional Coach, you will deliver virtual coaching cycles to drive growth in instructor success metrics, including a live instruction rating. You will communicate with both Learning Program Managers and Instructor Managers to inform metrics analysis and curriculum updates. This is a remote, contract position.
What You’ll Do
- Lead instructor onboarding and monitor engagement with the Instructor Academy
- Conduct 1:1 and group onboarding sessions with new instructors
- Conduct bi-weekly coaching cycles with new instructors
- Report to a member of the Learning Team to share the impact of your coaching and any other findings
- Monitor changes to instructor metrics in response to coaching, such as live instruction rating (from student survey), live class attendance, and weekly pass rate
- Support implementation of live learning initiatives, such as updates to lesson flows
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 5 years of classroom or online teaching experience
- Demonstrated effectiveness as a teacher, instructional coach, and/or academic leader in improving student outcomes
- Ability to determine and carry out specific coaching strategies to help online instructors grow and see improvement in their student outcomes
- Experience teaching and leading diverse student populations
- Ability to quickly build relationships and rapport with diverse adult learners
- Ability to commit 20 hours per week
- Stellar writing and communication skills
- Familiarity with Google Drive and Google Documents
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Receptiveness to constructive feedback on style and substance
Preferred Qualifications
- An education-related Master’s degree or higher
- Previous teaching experience in an online environment
- Previous coaching or professional development experience for online instructors
- Professional development, certification, or coursework in inclusive education, universal design for learning (UDL), or exceptional education
- Experience teaching students with disabilities or supporting instructors who work with diverse learners
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices in online learning environments
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and accommodations in virtual classrooms
Bonus Points if you have:
- Experience teaching adult learners
- Experience in an allied health care role or health care education
Job Types: Contract, Part-time, Remote
Salary: $35-$45 per hour
Commitment: 20 hours per week
Schedule: Flexible hours for asynchronous work, plus some availability for weekly meetings during EST business hours
