The VUC Physician will provide care to Cityblock members as part of our innovative care model. They will be working on the Mobile Integrated Care team which operates 24/7 virtual urgent care and can deploy Community Care Clinicians (typically paramedic, EMT, RN, or MA trained) to members’ homes in response to urgent member clinical and behavioral needs.

The VUC Physician, together with our team of virtual emergency medicine PAs/NPs, will develop treatment plans and address acute needs via phone or video, and will be able to deploy our Community Care Clinician ED at Home field team to implement assessment and treatment at the member’s home. They are responsible for collaborating with and overseeing advanced practice providers (NPs/PAs) during virtual visits, working closely with the Community Care Clinicians to plan next steps, as well as closing the loop with the member’s primary care team.

This role operates in rotating shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

 

Essential job responsibilities:

  • Work full-time with flexibility for 8-12 hour shifts, including some weekend day and holiday day call coverage
  • Deliver acute care for a complex population of members in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team model
  • Effective supervision and leadership of clinical care within interdisciplinary team, ensuring highest quality of care
  • Ensure members receive appropriate care for acute and chronic diseases
  • Collaborate effectively with other Cityblock providers and longitudinal care teams
  • Prevent unnecessary emergency room visits
  • Timely documentation and loop closure
  • Net promoter score (bedside manner)
  • Active participation in Virtual Urgent Care and ED at Home model development, redesign, and innovation

Requirements for the Role: 

  • Graduate from an accredited medical college (within the United States/Canada) or from an unaccredited medical college (outside of the United State/Canada).
  • Board Certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM, ABOEM)
  • Current valid license to practice medicine in at least one of Cityblock’s existing regional markets.
  • Willingness to acquire and maintain licenses in all MIC markets
  • 3+ years in clinical practice post-residency training
  • Are comfortable using technology to support members (telephone and text etiquette, virtual visit platforms, scheduling platforms etc.) and to communicate with interdisciplinary team (slack, google documents, etc).
  • Understand how to use electronic health record systems and/or care facilitation platforms to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Document thorough medical, behavioral and social history with clearly communicated assessments and plans.
  • Proficient in Motivational Interviewing and Trauma informed Care principles.
  • Have strong problem solving skills – can make difficult decisions and knows when to collaborate with other team members.
  • Able to provide creative solutions to challenges within the healthcare system that are impeding members’ care and health.
  • Have a growth and learning mentality, ability to think outside the box, go outside the bounds of “traditional” responsibilities.

    Are adaptable to change and prepared for frequent, fast-paced changes and shifting priorities.

 

We take into account an individual’s qualifications, skillset, and experience in determining final salary. This role is eligible for retirement benefits and sick leave. The actual offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate’s qualifications, years of experience, skillset, and geographic location. The expected salary range for this position is:

$189,900 to $201,200
