As the Tax Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing tax compliance in various jurisdictions and have a proactive approach to managing tax-related issues. You will work closely with various internal teams to ensure the company’s tax obligations are met efficiently and accurately. This role will report into the Director of Accounting.
What you’ll do as a Tax Manager at Vanta:
- Tax Account Reconciliations:
- Lead the reconciliation of all tax-related accounts, including global income tax, sales tax, VAT, and other indirect taxes.
- Indirect Tax Management:
- Manage other indirect taxes, including VAT, GST, and excise taxes, ensuring timely and accurate filings in all applicable jurisdictions.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of sales tax returns for multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local, state, and international tax laws.
- Assist in the management of tax audits, ensuring proper documentation and responses to tax authorities when required.
- Tax Reporting and other Compliance matters:
- Support the preparation of tax-related financial reports, provisions and disclosures
- Collaborate with external tax providers to ensure timely and accurate filing of compliance matters in the US and foreign subsidiaries.
- Provide tax advice to support business decisions and operations, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
- Support the preparation of transfer pricing documentation where applicable.
- Provide analysis of tax data to identify potential risks, exposures, and opportunities for tax optimization.
- Process Improvement:
- Continuously assess and improve tax accounting processes and workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement best practices for tax compliance and ensure the team follows established processes to minimize errors or delays.
- Perform any additional duties related to tax accounting as needed.
How to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or other relevant certifications preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in tax accounting.
- Experience with indirect taxes such as sales tax, VAT, and GST.
Strong understanding of tax accounting principles and familiarity with tax compliance across various jurisdictions. - Experience with financial software systems (Netsuite) and advanced proficiency in Excel
- Familiarity with sales tax reporting software (Anrok, Avalara, etc)
