We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our Provider Quality team, where you will play a critical role in enhancing the experience of therapists and psychiatrists who power Rula’s care network. You’ll be working on our provider portal—the primary tool used by providers to deliver care efficiently and effectively.

In this role, you’ll contribute to designing and building robust full-stack solutions that are essential for our day-to-day operations. You’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and Design partners to ensure that our systems are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-impact projects that directly support Rula’s mission to make mental healthcare work for everyone.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Experience building scalable, reliable, and performant systems
  • Proficiency in driving all phases of the development lifecycle: planning, execution, post-launch maintenance
  • Intermediate understanding of modern application architecture, API design patterns, data modeling, security, and performance
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with peers and partners

Preferred Qualifications

While having the preferred qualifications enhances your candidacy, having all of them is not mandatory. We encourage all interested applicants to apply, even those who may not meet every preferred requirement.

  • Experience at growth-stage companies, particularly with migrating legacy systems to microservices
  • Demonstrable experience building “source of truth” systems and integrating with third-party services via events and workflows
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Kafka, and AWS
  • Experience working in HIPAA-compliant or regulated environments (e.g., FHIR, HL7, SOC2, HITRUST)
  • Previous experience in the healthcare or mental health industry

We’re serious about your well-being! As part of our team, full-time employees receive:

  • 100% remote work environment (US-based only): Working hours to support a healthy work-life balance, ensuring you can meet both professional and personal commitments
  • Attractive pay and benefits: Full transparency of pay ranges regardless of where you live in the United States
  • Comprehensive health benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and FSA/HSA
  • 401(k) plan access: Start saving for your future
  • Generous time-off policies: Including 2 company-wide shutdown weeks each year for self-care (for most employees)
  • Paid parental leave: Available for all parents, including birthing, non-birthing, adopting, and fostering
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Support for your mental and physical health
  • New hire home office stipend: Set up your workspace for success
  • Quarterly department stipend: Fund team-building activities or in-person gatherings
  • Wellness events and lunch & learns: Explore a variety of engaging topics
  • Community and employee resource groups: Participate in groups that celebrate employee identity and lived experiences, fostering a sense of community and belonging for all
