We are looking for someone who wants to work with our team solving infrastructure capacity and performance challenges to enable our customers to have the best possible experience with Zendesk.  You will help us gain insight into the performance characteristics of our products and understand when additional capacity needs to be added to our infrastructure.  You will gain a deep understanding of all of the products at Zendesk, and will be uniquely positioned to assist teams in understanding their performance constraints and capacity requirements.

What you’ll be doing

  • Work with internal customers to evaluate application performance
  • Run application load tests and benchmarks
  • Manage platform capacity by balancing the load on our infrastructure
  • Analyse trends and events to help us reach data driven decisions about capacity expansion
  • Help find solution for external customers who may have special use cases and workloads

What you bring to the role

  •  Required:
    •  Proven record of application benchmarking and load testing, including a high level of proficiency with the tools and methodology needed for running these types of tests.
    • Deep understanding of how to translate benchmark and performance data into capacity forecasts
    • Experience managing infrastructure capacity; assisting in decisions about timely expansion while keeping costs in mind
    • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
    • Demonstrated knowledge of any of the following languages: Rub, Scala, Go, Python
  • Preferred: 
    • Any experience with Amazon Aurora
    • Any experience with data analytics
    • Familiarity and comfort in a Linux environment

Tech Stack

  • Kubernetes is heavily utilized
  • Data is stored in AWS Aurora and S3, and streamed through Kafka
  • Ruby, Scala, and Go as well as other languages make up the majority of our codebase
