User Experience is the function that applies principles and techniques of discovery, research, design, and content strategy to define the experience a user has in a product.
As a Sr. UX Researcher, you will be overseeing research initiatives, using appropriate qualitative and quantitative methodologies to help identify and solve wider challenges for the Paylocity user groups within Product Development organization.
You will partner with teams in UX Design, Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to better understand customer needs, wants and motivations. You are a storyteller, have a diverse set of research skills, a driver of change, open to new possibilities, impact oriented, and a great culture fit. This role will report to the Sr. Director of UX Research.
Responsibilities
- Defines and creates comprehensive research plan for a product by planning, recruitment, execution, analysis, and with deep knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative methodologies that drive strategic findings and actionable recommendations.
- Outlines research needs and potential areas that require investigation, preemptively recognizing problem areas that warrant further research with your cross-functional partners and leadership.
- Exhibits advanced negotiation skills, adeptly communicating and facilitating trade-off in planning research to come to consensus on approach and outcomes with among stakeholders.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the company’s business and delivers insights and recommendations that align with the business goals and objectives.
- Drives research-driven insights via iterative evaluative research to reduce uncertainty for conditions that may impact future initiatives supporting a
product partners, and creates well-formed user experience goals, signals, metrics, and criteria for product. - Communicates projects effectively to team and stakeholders, by exploring ways to effectively storytelling through writing, presentations, and conversations that build consensus and persuade action based on findings presented to partners.
- Leverages consistently tools, templates, and other guidelines for team members to capture their assumptions and express them as testable hypotheses.
- Organizes and presents research insights and recommendations with guidance to project teams to collaborate and drive outcomes.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human computer Interaction (HCI) in Human Cognition, Interaction Design, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or related field degree required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a field unrelated to UX will be considered if accompanied
by 5-7 years of hands-on experience in a UX product development setting. - Must be able to leverage measurable criteria for research across product suite.
- Has robust design thinking and critical problem-solving facilitation for research.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating previous work experience and deliverables, that illustrates how research informed decision-making, highlighting deliverables, process, artifacts, and your ability.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in all aspects of the research process (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting) with ability to prioritize multiple requests successfully leveraging multiple methods.
