Clever is seeking a creative, collaborative, and experienced Senior Product Designer to help us create fantastic experiences that help students, teachers, school administrators and parents.

That’s where you come in: You’re focused on deeply understanding users and crafting easy-to-use experiences. You’re excited to apply your skills to solving complex, technical design problems that improve and expand Clever’s identity management products. You’re a visionary designer who is motivated to delve deep into identity and security systems and problems.

You excel at defining the problem space, gathering insights from users, iterating quickly, crafting beautiful interfaces and working with engineers to see your ideas implemented.

  • Research the needs of Clever’s school IT leadership and administrative staff to discover opportunities for improving existing products and creating new experiences they truly love.
  • Understand the business strategy and articulate how proposed designs support business needs.
  • Collaborate with our product, engineering, and customer-facing teams to create solutions.
  • Design flows, prototypes, sketches, and high-fidelity visuals for your features and products.
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure a high-quality implementation.
  • Solicit feedback from your peers, including other designers and stakeholders on your product.
  • Champion a high bar for design excellence across Clever’s products and services.
  • Mentor other designers and contribute to product & design process improvements.

  • You have 5+ years of professional experience as an in-house product designer.
  • Experience designing for highly technical domains, for example: security, developer tools, or financial products.
  • Your portfolio showcases high quality work in user research, ideation, interaction design and visual design.
  • You’re a flexible designer who spans the end-to-end design process — from outlining workflows on Figjam, sketching wireframes on paper, to putting together high fidelity, interactive prototypes.
  • Your design is driven by a deeply developed awareness of your users and their context, asking “why?” as often as “what?”
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and can present designs to and gather feedback from internal teams, executives, and external partners.
  • You’re an empathetic mentor to other designers who guides through active listening.
  • Commitment to equity and belonging: Clever believes that the classrooms we serve and our company’s halls should be spaces that are diverse, equitable and inclusive. We seek opportunities and celebrate actions that further allow us to build diverse teams, include every voice, and create a safe space for everyone to bring their authentic selves into the workplace.
