As a Renewal Specialist, you will be responsible for acting on behalf of Blackboard as the primary sales interface for renewals in the business and government market. Specifically, you will partner with the cross-functional renewal team on processing renewal contracts and pricing to clients as well as with Account Executives and Customer Success Advocates to ensure account health and proactively engage renewal risks.



Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining accurate renewal forecast data for the assigned book of business in the CRM
  • Managing a portfolio with the aim of achieving 100% on-time renewal rates
  • Developing and executing strategies to exceed projected renewals targets
  • Contributing to and assisting in executing the larger Blackboard renewal strategy in alignment with our corporate strategies
  • Contacting assigned customers to discuss the renewal schedule and begin negotiations
  • Processing quotes and renewal documents
  • Following the defined escalation path for issues uncovered during the renewal process
  • This role requires 5% travel



The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • 2-5+ years of experience in effective account management, customer service, and client renewal process or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with managing conflict and working with diverse populations
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively to a variety of internal and external audiences
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Salesforce
  • Ability to act as an advocate for clients to drive feature enhancements, efficient processes, and general product/service improvement
  • Technical orientation and knowledge
  • Ability to exercise discretion, creative decision-making, and good judgment
  • Strong team player with excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to adapt to specific client needs and think independently



Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous experience in a business and/or government setting
  • The ability to support Marketing, Sales, RFP, and other efforts towards successful client acquisition and retention
  • Access and previous data management experience
