The Proposal Writer is responsible for proposal development, including creating and maintaining schedules, organizing resources, coordinating inputs and reviews, ensuring alignment with bid strategy, ensuring compliance, resolving internal response team issues, and providing process leadership for the completion and on-time submission of RFx responses (Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quotation (RFQ), and Request for Information (RFI)) and Security Assessments. Ultimately, the Proposal Writer manages the RFx response from beginning to end: from research and data collection and maintenance, to writing, editing and proofreading, to proposal document creation and revision, and production (when needed). The role includes continuous review and knowledge of the DocuSign solutions, content updates in Loopio, and security-related questions and responses.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Manager, Proposal Management.

 

Responsibility

  • Own RFx or Security Assessment responses within the Proposal Writer’s alignment or as assigned by the Manager, Proposal Management
  • Plan, research, develop and edit complex content for proposals in response to customer solicitations, maintaining high standards around the quality and accuracy of the final output
  • Serve as a central point of contact on assigned proposals and leads a multi-discipline or cross-functional team
  • Lead the bid/no bid qualification process with Sales and Solution Engineering, using data collected
  • Review RFx for flags, issues, and risks, and work with internal teams to mitigate these risks
  • Act as the visionary for the solution, identifying and developing win themes and strategies based on the latest competitive intel
  • Create the project plan and track assignments for completion
  • Lead initial and ongoing status meetings to review progress on outstanding RFx content tasks and assignments
  • Write content for cover letters, executive summaries, and other materials to customize for the customer
  • Help to maintain proposal processes, templates, standards, and best practices within the Proposal Knowledge Center, providing suggestions and improvements as needed
  • Develop and maintain proposal content in Loopio
  • Identify content gaps, then work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) – sales, technical, and engineering experts, as well as contract and legal representatives – to craft responses
  • Manage involvement of SME for technical writing assignments, ensuring that submissions are accurate, compliant with the outline and RFP instructions, and address win themes and strategies
  • Track RFx responses in Salesforce and keep information updated throughout the project and following submission
  • Keep management informed of progress and/or issues and provide inputs for monthly and quarterly reporting

What you bring

 

Basic 

  • 2+ years of proposal experience in technology sales
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

 

Preferred 

  • 5+ years of proposal experience within a software sales environment
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Excellent writing, grammar, and spelling abilities
  • Technical writing skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides)
  • Skilled in engaging with senior technical staff and upper-level management to obtain necessary information
  • Self-starter, multitasker, team player, works well under pressure, and follows through on tasks
  • Skilled in handling multiple deadlines simultaneously and working independently
  • Good attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel a few times a year for team events

 


Wage Transparency

 

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

 

California: $68,400 – $97,700 base salary

 

Illinois and Colorado: $63,100 – $82,075 base salary

 

Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $63,100 – $88,875 base salary
