The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing day-to-day logistics operations, managing shipments, troubleshooting issues with carriers, and ensuring efficient transportation processes. This position plays a key role in maintaining service levels, resolving issues, and supporting various internal and external teams to ensure smooth logistics flow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day-to-Day Operations:
- Track, trace, and schedule all loads, troubleshooting carrier issues as they arise.
- Ensure all shipments are appropriately updated in real time throughout the life cycle of the load.
- Monitor and provide timely responses to internal and external emails and Slack communications.
- Act as an escalation point for resolving issues that impact service or delivery.
- Carrier and Vendor Management:
- Maintain regular communication with carriers (small parcel, full truckload, LTL, intermodal, air freight) and third-party warehouses to ensure high service levels and prompt issue resolution.
- Manage contract and spot rates for loads, secure appropriate capacity, and tender freight to carriers.
- Negotiate rates with carriers as needed to ensure competitive pricing and timely service.
- Operational Support:
- Work with internal tools and escalate issues or process improvements as necessary.
- Light weekend and after-hours work for tracking and resolution.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth operations and resolve any logistics challenges.
- Reporting and Claims Management:
- Audit and reconcile invoices prior to payment by accounts payable.
- Raise claims and other exception items as required, ensuring they are tracked and resolved.
- Maintain data accuracy within internal tools and systems.
- Work cross-functionally with departments to proactively communicate shipment details and exceptions.
- Exception Handling:
- Manage exceptions such as rescheduling, delays, and tracking shipments to final destinations.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2+ years of experience managing logistics, preferably within a freight brokerage with a focus on truckload.
- Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of transportation modes (truckload, LTL, intermodal, air freight).
- Experience with rate negotiation and capacity management.
- Proficiency in logistics software/tools and Microsoft Office.

Pay Range
