The IT System Engineer is responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of the systems supporting the Houzz IT infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This person will monitor existing systems while taking a proactive approach to ensure system stability. This person will also be an escalation point for our IT Support Specialists and have involvement in day-to-day operations.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Build and manage automation for employee lifecycle using Okta workflows, scripts, and other relevant technologies.
  • Provide timely and effective support for the user base including day to day operations, continual monitoring and problem resolution for the company’s technology stack.
  • Provides 2nd & 3rd tier problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Manage end user device policies within our MDM platforms to help balance security compliance and productivity.
  • Create and maintain technical knowledge base documents.
  • Analyze existing processes, work with business leaders to suggest and make improvements, and implement new business processes where needed.
  • Able to work independently but know when to reach out for support.

 

At a Minimum, We’d Like You to Have

  • You have 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrate that you continue to keep your knowledge and skills up to date.
  • Hands-on enterprise experience with Google Workspace and Okta Identity Engine.
  • Experience in building and managing identity and access management tools and integrating them to critical SaaS tools including, but not limited to, Slack, Zoom, Okta, Jira, AWS IAM, etc.
  • You have experience working with identity access management technologies and platforms (SAML, OIDC, Okta Identity Engine, Active Directory, etc.).
  • You have experience working with modern MDM tools (JAMF, Meraki EMM, Intune).
  • You have knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, wired & wireless networks, AWS VPC, AWS R53, Meraki, Cisco).
  • Familiarity with macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android devices.

 

Ideally, You’ll Also Have

  • You have scripting experience using Bash, Python, or equivalent tools.
  • You have experience consuming REST APIs for SaaS automation.
  • You have experience working within security compliance frameworks (SOC 2, PCI).
  • Prior IT/helpdesk/customer service experience.
  • Certification or previous experience with ITIL practices.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • System design, ideally in a cloud environment such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Experience with project management utilizing Jira.

 

Compensation, Benefits and Perks
This role has an annual starting salary range of $90,000 – $110,000. In addition to salary, you’re eligible for competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Houzz. Also, depending on the role, you could be eligible for an equity award. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including, but not limited to, skills, experience, and specific work location.
