As the Head of Engineering at Onfleet, you will play a pivotal role in leading a disciplined, agile, and highly effective engineering team. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role provides a unique opportunity to hold a key leadership position, influencing the evolution of our product, shaping our company culture, and driving overall company growth.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and expand the engineering organization while maintaining a high level of credibility.
  • Oversee and develop a multifaceted team, currently consisting of managers plus 18 individual contributors across various product squads.
  • Actively participate in pivotal company decisions at the highest level, serving as the engineering representative on the executive leadership team.
  • Introduce innovative processes and frameworks, ensuring accountable and high-quality execution with a focus on rapid delivery, while nurturing the well-being of our team members.
  • Present to the board, taking full ownership of all technical and engineering matters.
  • Collaborate closely with the product team, co-defining the product and technology strategy and roadmap and taking full ownership of value delivery.
  • Implement and champion best practices, articulate a long-term technological vision and strategy, and lead thorough technical reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with devops on the technical roadmap to align with our product roadmap and compliance needs.
  • Work in tandem with the company’s C-suite.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Demonstrated leadership in steering a dynamic engineering organization (minimum 30 people) within the SaaS software space for a minimum of 8 years, employing agile/lean methodologies.

  • Proven success in managing and strategically expanding fully remote, globally distributed, and culturally diverse engineering teams.

  • Worked as a strong individual contributor, with at least 6 years of experience, mastering a programming language and a key technology.

  • Acknowledged as an expert in at least one technical domain of software development (e.g. backend, infrastructure, architecture, databases).

  • Served as the final, strategic technical decision-maker for a minimum of 2 years, contributing demonstrably to revenue growth.

  • Applied expertise in operating under established compliance/privacy/security frameworks.

  • Successfully led the evolution of an existing engineering culture to align with business goals while enhancing psychological safety, productivity, and accountability.

  • Demonstrated ownership of the engineering/COGS budgets and adept management of technical vendor relationships.

  • Exhibited sound judgment, a steadfast commitment to company values, ethical conduct, and a dedication to fostering inclusivity.

  • Cultivated deep and highly productive partnerships with cross-functional company leaders.

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, a process-oriented mindset, a can-do attitude, low ego, and a strong intellectual curiosity.

  • Possess experience in a fast-moving, stimulating startup environment.

What We Offer:

  • Compensation: The base salary range for this role is $175,000 – $240,000 and may be eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
