Backflip is seeking a Construction Draws Analyst to join our construction draws team, dedicated to delivering a best-in-class experience. This role is responsible for managing the entire construction draw process, from start to finish. Key responsibilities include: Initial Project Budget Review, Draw Request Processing, Inspection Report Review, and Member Support.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in understanding renovation budgets, be highly motivated to proactively engage with our members and able to stay hyper-organized around their draw pipeline. They should also be enthusiastic about contributing to a developing department where their input on process improvements is both encouraged and expected. This position works closely with the Director of Construction and Senior Director of Loan Operations.
This position is remote (U.S.) and a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor (~75 person team) working directly with senior leaders in a well-capitalized startup with a great culture (Check out our recently announced $15M Series A).
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee a construction draw pipeline to ensure draw request submissions, inspection report reviews, and timely disbursement of funds
- Ensure accurate onboarding of construction budgets to Backflip’s draw processing software
- Review and finalize rehab budgets prior to loan closing, ensuring accuracy, consistency and completeness
- Coordinate with third-party inspectors to obtain photographs and inspection reports to validate construction progress
- Coordinate with borrowers to review and approve change order requests
- Conduct welcome calls to educate borrowers on the draw process
- Coordinate with various capital markets counterparties to secure timely approvals
- Assist the treasury department in preparing draw funding disbursements
- Assist the Asset Management team with borrower communication on non-performing loans
- Collaborate with team members to enhance processes to: i)improve borrower experience, and; ii) reduce processing times
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of work experience in similar customer-facing processing roles, such as Construction Analyst, Draw Specialist, or Draw Analyst
- 1+ year experience processing construction draw requests
- Experience reviewing residential construction budgets, feasibility and inspection reports
- Prior experience working a remote team
- Prior experience with a fintech company or venture-backed startup is a plus
- Prior experience investing in single family real estate is a plus
- Exemplary computer skills – demonstrated ability and desire to learn new technologies (we use Slack + Notion + Google Workspace + Front + HubSpot + Land Gorilla + more)
- General understanding of basic mortgage and investment concepts (or demonstrated desire to learn); comfortable performing basic math calculations

Compensation for this role includes a $70,000 annual salary with a $15/per draw performance incentive, and is based on a variety of factors including prior experience, geographic location, stock option grant, and other factors, and may fall outside of the stated range for certain candidates.
