This role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to apply their expertise in a complex, medium-to-large company environment, leveraging modern payroll and HRIS platforms such as Workday, ADP, and CloudPay.

Payroll Operations

End-to-End Processing: Responsible for assigned US and Canadian payrolls. Ensure accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing for assigned employees and countries.

Transaction Management: Process data for new hires, terminations, leaves of absence (LOAs), garnishments, time and absence entries, equity, bonuses, retro, and off-cycle payrolls as needed.

Adjustments & Year-End: Process clawbacks for overpayments and escheatment. Execute all required year-end activities.

Compliance & Data Management

Regulatory Expertise: Keep up to date with federal, state, and local payroll laws to ensure compliance and support audits. Maintain knowledge of federal and state income taxes, including requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

Record Integrity: Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring all data is accurate and compliant with relevant laws and regulations. Ensure Workday is maintained as the primary source of data integrity for all employees.

Tax Support: Resolve Payroll Tax requests, including set-ups, research, and adjustments. Perform SUI rate updates in Workday and ADP as needed.

Workday Systems: Responsible for EIB loads into Workday. Support Workday testing as required.

Support, Reporting, and Troubleshooting

Employee Support: Responsible for the support of payroll inquiries. Manage and respond to SNOW tickets timely and accurately at first instance.

Service Delivery: Meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for employee inquiries and provide input for SLA creation and updates.

Reporting: Generate regular and ad-hoc reports on payroll data, labor costs, and compliance metrics for management, finance, and corporate tax teams. Develop proficiency in Excel to perform these tasks. Familiarity with Power Query or Power BI is highly preferred.

Process Improvement: Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues reported by employees or leadership. Review payroll processes for efficiency and identify areas for improvement.

Collaboration & System Maintenance

Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Total Rewards teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes with other business functions.

System Upgrades: Support payroll system updates and improvements, including testing new features and resolving technical issues. Assist with various stages of the testing cycle.

Training & Documentation: Provide training and support on payroll policies and systems. Help develop payroll policies and procedures, including SOPs, workflows, and knowledge base articles.

Record Keeping: Ensure all payroll documentation is accurate, complete, and securely stored for compliance and audit purposes.

Other Duties: Support the Sr. Payroll Specialist with assigned tasks and help with miscellaneous duties as needed.

  • 2+  years of prior payroll experience, preferably in medium to large multi-state companies.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, & CloudPay).
